Community support and commitment have played a key role in Canadian Malartic's success to date. The Canadian Malartic Partnership looks forward to building upon this success with its neighbours and the community.
We will continue to work with the communities in which we operate, contribute to their social development, and engage in transparent and respectful dialogue.
As part of our commitment to stimulate growth in Malartic and bring it prosperity, we are continuing our efforts to ensure that more of our employees come from Malartic by investing locally in training and education.
During the public consultation process begun in 2006 by Osisko Mining Corporation in Malartic, the Company voluntarily committed to create a monitoring committee. It made this commitment known to the people of Malartic, the Québec Ministry of Sustainable Development, the Environment, Wildlife and Parks (MDDEFP) and the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (BAPE). Osisko indicated that this committee would be composed of Malartic residents and regional representatives in order to monitor the Canadian Malartic Project.
The Monitoring Committee will serve the same purpose for the Canadian Malartic Partnership: ensuring an active and transparent presence within the community of Malartic.
More information on the Monitoring Committee can be found on the Committee's website: http://www.comitesuiviosisko.com

FECM - Fonds Essor Canadian Malartic
The Fonds Essor Canadian Malartic (FECM) (formerly the Fonds Essor Malartic Osisko (FEMO)) was set up in 2008 to leave a legacy for future generations. The Fund, a first for both the Québec and Canadian mining industries, will improve the quality of life for residents and encourage long-term community growth by promoting and supporting initiatives that will have a lasting impact on economic, social and cultural development.
Project proposals are submitted to the FECM Board of Directors, which is comprised of:
Two members from Canadian Malartic's management;
One external economic administrator;
One representative from the University of Québec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue; and
Four representatives from the Malartic community.
Canadian Malartic donates $150,000 per year to the FECM, with a further $90,000 a year in contributions coming from the sale of Canadian Malartic’s waste oil. In addition, the proceeds of the 300,000 shares committed by Osisko when the Fund was created will continue to provide financial support for community projects when the mine closes.
